Who else will join the Hull City exodus?

With Robbie Brady looking highly likely to join Tom Ince, Stephen Quinn, Paul McShane, Liam Rosenior and others in leaving Hull City this summer – let’s take a look at the other members of the squad who may follow them through that revolving exit door.

James Chester - Defender - Age 26

Where? Aston Villa, Leicester, Newcastle, WBA

Why? Chester has looked a classy, intelligent centre-half since the first time he stepped onto a pitch in black and amber. Over the past two seasons the man Nigel Pearson signed from Manchester United has proven himself at the highest level and helped Wales into the top ten of the FIFA rankings with some highly impressive performances.

Will he go? He only has a year left on his City contract so the club are not in the ideal position to fend off interest. So far there haven’t been any offers but it’s hard to imagine that will remain the case given his quality. If any bid comes in above £6m, he’ll go.

Michael Dawson - Defender - Age 31

Why? There has been no speculation surrounding interest in Dawson but last week’s Sunday People did suggest City will have to sell him. After a slow start to his career at the KC he did improve to become one of the better performers each week. Whether that is even a compliment is debatable. Many clubs would like a defender of his quality but probably not at his age and price tag.

Will he go? No

Ahmed Elmohamady - Right Midfielder - Age 27

Where? Everton

Why? It’s debateable whether anyone actually is interested. In some ways it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were because Elmo’s stamina and work-rate are unrivalled and his crossing can be a very dangerous weapon. The black mark against him is the fact that his best position is as a wing-back. He’s not as effective as an out and out winger and is a very average right back.

Will he go? I think he’s found a home and a manager who loves him. He’s the most likely to sign a new deal.

Tom Huddlestone - Midfielder - Age 28

Where? Aston Villa, Bournemouth

Why? Lord knows. No-one who has actually watched him over the past nineteen months would be rushing to spend their money on him. Interest would only come from a manager who takes advice on his targets from Match of the Day pundits. Even his much vaunted passing game has suffered from his lack of mobility and concentration.

Will he go? Not a chance. We’re not that lucky.

Nikica Jelavic - Striker - Age 29

Where? Al-Ahli, Napoli, Trabzonspor

Why? Jelavic has a steady goal scoring record over a long period along with outstanding work-rate, willingness to battle defenders and “game smartness”. His importance to the City side last season cannot be stated. Clubs know he’ll settle quickly and give his all but his injury record has definitely put paid to a move to a truly decent side.

Will he go? He will but it may well be late in the window when desperation strikes.

Andrew Robertson - Left Back - Age 21

Where? Aston Villa

Why? Robertson is so young that most clubs would consider his untapped potential as worth investing in. He didn’t progress as expected last season after an impressive start and the return of Robbie Brady from injury practically ended his season. Robertson is an impressive attacking full back with searing pace but a very naïve defender. He has two years left on his contract and the club would want around a £10m transfer fee.

Will he go? It’s very doubtful that he’ll leave this summer. Unless Aston Villa have got more money than sense, he’s going to get the opportunity to get some game time in a tough league.

What about the rest?

Abel Hernandez and Dame N’Doye are both leaving without a doubt. It’s only a question of when, where and how much.

There was interest in Jake Livermore from Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood - who has said in the past that he would have kept Jake if he'd stayed at Spurs - before the midfielders "indiscretion". Curtis Davies was the subject of one media report linking him with Leicester, Crystal Palace and Watford but a Premier league move would be a surprise given his downturn in form since he was refused a new contract last summer. He's another with only a year left on said contract so a departure would not be a complete surprise. The club have reportedly turned down a bid from Bristol City for Harry Maguire who they view as an investment for the future. Mo Diame's injury ensures he'll be staying and it's questionable whether anyone will ever take him with his knees.
